How to play
Move
Drag with your finger, move your mouse, or use the ← and → keys. Space or P pauses the term; the pause button sits in the top corner of the board.
Catch
Votes are worth 10, honest promises 15, our icon 25 and a golden number one 50. String catches together and the combo multiplier climbs — up to five times. A lost page drifts past now and then; catch it for two extra seconds.
Let the rorts drop
Catch a rort and you lose points and your combo. Some things are better left on the floor. At the end of 45 seconds you get a verdict, from "keep going" all the way to a landslide.
Why we made it
"Keep the bastards honest" has been the Australian Democrats' job description since 1980, and it is not an abstract one. It is the unglamorous, repetitive work of turning up, reading the fine print, and refusing to wave things through — which turns out to make a decent little arcade game.
This one is deliberately small: 45 seconds, one highlighter, no sign-up form and nothing tracking you. Play it on the bus, beat your best score, and if it makes the crossbench's day job a bit more vivid, it has done its work.
